Sports injuries may occur during extracurricular activities at school and require appropriate first aid. This community service program aimed to improve students’ knowledge of sports injury first aid through education and training based on the RICE method (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation). The program was conducted at SMP Negeri 20 Surabaya in September 2026 and involved 50 students participating in sports extracurricular activities, the Youth Red Cross (Palang Merah Remaja [PMR]), and the Scout movement. The activities included initial coordination, a pre-test, instructional sessions, demonstrations, practical simulations, a post-test, and an evaluation of program achievement and partner satisfaction (KPKM). The knowledge test consisted of 10 items covering five indicators. Descriptively, the mean knowledge score increased from 41.51 on the pre-test to 94.34 on the post-test, representing a difference of 52.83 points. The largest increase was observed in the indicator concerning actions to avoid when an injury occurs, with a difference of 17.17 points. The KPKM evaluation yielded a mean score of 4.62 out of 5, equivalent to 92.3%. These findings indicate an increase in knowledge scores following the program and positive participant evaluations of its implementation. However, practical skills were not objectively assessed using an observation instrument, and the absence of a comparison group limits conclusions regarding the program’s causal effectiveness. Further evaluation should include objective practical skills assessments and follow-up measurements of knowledge retention.
