Abstract

This study aims to analyze the forms of local wisdom and their role in strengthening religious moderation within a multicultural community in Sepaso Village, Bengalon District, East Kutai Regency. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The informants consisted of community leaders, religious leaders, and local residents. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the existing forms of local wisdom include mutual cooperation (gotong royong), deliberation, Megengan, Ketupat Celebration, Ma’badong, and Mappacci traditions. These traditions embody values of tolerance, social solidarity, togetherness, and respect for cultural and religious diversity. Local wisdom plays a significant role in fostering harmonious social life and strengthening religious moderation amid social diversity. This study confirms that local traditions function as social instruments in reinforcing religious moderation within multicultural communities.
