Sejarah Multikulturalisme dan Moderasi Beragama dalam Perspektif Islam: Studi Kasus Masyarakat di Desa Kabo Jaya, Sangatta Utara

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the historical contribution and practice of religious moderation in building a harmonious social life. The method used was a qualitative case study approach. Data were obtained through participant observation, in-depth interviews with religious leaders, community leaders, and residents, and document study. The analysis was conducted descriptively and interpretively to understand the practice of diversity in the context of everyday life. The results show that diversity in Kabo Jaya Village is shaped by the history of transmigration and strengthened by the community's active participation in interfaith social and religious activities. Supporting factors include high tolerance, cross-community cooperation, and the role of religious leaders. Inhibiting factors include a lack of cultural understanding among newcomers and a lack of multicultural education. This study confirms that Islam, as a religion of rahmatan lil 'alamin (blessing for all the universe), strongly supports the creation of a peaceful, inclusive, and sustainable society.
